The one hour of free parking, introduced at the Rosewarne car parks at the beginning of January to help support businesses and the local community while the Camborne Town Deal Renew scheme highways works were carried out in the town centre, is due to come to an end in mid-July.
Part of the wider Camborne Town Deal Transport Project, the works to enhance the appearance of the town centre and improve access for pedestrians and cyclists have involved vehicles being periodically restricted from certain areas of the town.
The offer of one-hour free parking was provided to encourage people to continue to visit the town centre during the works.
With the project now drawing towards its final stages, this temporary arrangement will end on 11 July, with the standard parking charges applying at the Rosewarne car parks from 12 July.
Designed to improve the environmental aspect of the town centre, the Renew scheme has included:
- Adding new seating and plant greenery
- Improving pedestrian crossings throughout Trelowarren Street
- A new zebra crossing at Fore Street
- Extending on-street free parking at the top of Trelowarren Street from 30 minutes to an 1 hour
- Repairing paving defects in Commercial Square
- Installing enhanced lighting and CCTV
- Providing cycle parking
